Summary

You play as a girl named Kawena, a prodigy fighter brought into the highest ranks of the military at a very young age. Her weapon of choice is a massive blade that is able to generate a reflective force-field when swung. However, as she mastered her skills in combat, she lost grip of other values in life, and soon become bored with life and behaved almost robotic-like. But someone came to help.

This was created in 48 hours, and unfortunately I didn't have time to make the rest of the levels. You can find a preview of what was to come in level 2 if you beat level 1! But essentially every level would feature a graphics update and new character abilities.

Enjoy!

Very poetic and thoughtful experience. Beautiful music tracks. And the platformer gameplay was also very good! (just a bit jittery on the moving platforms, but then I read your explanation on the devlog post)

The narrative was very interesting, I hope you can continue it someday! I became very curious about how the journey of Kawena would continue… xD

I don’t know if the levels would continue being sidescrollers or if they would eventually change to a 3D gameplay, but after seeing the Kawena model at the end, I couldn’t help but picture a NieR: Automata-styled game featuring Kawena and her bigass sword. That would be so awesome!

Overall, I’m impressed on what you managed to learn and do in just 48 hours, well done!

Thank you for the kind words! I read all the comments you left so far.

I do plan on continuing this at some point, since I have some really good ideas for the story I can't let go. But right now it is on the backburner since I need way better animation technology than what is currently available to pull this off. 3D is planned, but probably not NieR levels. Making the controls consistent across perspectives and art styles is a big challenge, and the gameplay will probably be slightly biased towards platforming. But who knows?

Sounds good to me! I really enjoy games with more platforming-focused gameplay, so I can imagine I’ll enjoy very much the other levels… :D

Wish you success on your projects!
